Terminator Salvation Set Visit: The Plot

Source: Scott Chitwood On Comingsoon.net

SPOILER WARNING!!
While chatting with production designer Martin Laing, he ushered us into a room absolutely filled with dozens of pieces of production paintings. Then he did the unthinkable. He walked us through the plot of the entire movie. His description is focused on the character of Marcus, so I know he left out a lot of details about John Connor as well as the final ending. But never have I been on a set visit where so much of the movie was revealed. McG also filled in additional details of the plot as we chatted with him later. Star Trek Reviewed... sort of.

Ok we went to see Star Trek for Mothers Day. Yes, she wanted to go. The improved sets and young, sexier versions of old characters may have played a small part in that decision as well. This action packed, sci-fi extravaganza, should entice a new fan base and possible skate through some potential harm from the old fan boys( now about 40 years or so of age). Spoiler alert!
The story touches on the origins of the beloved crew of the enterprise, at least a parrallel version of their characters. Do to an astronomical natural then unatural phenomenon, the course of time changes, which in turn changes the whole known history of our famous characters.
A sun of the Romulan solar system goes super nova, which will destroy the Romulan planet. Our beloved Spock devices a way to save the planet by creating a situation that will cause the sun to create a singularity. (black hole) in turn preventing the destruction of the planet. (but wouldn’t the planet get ripped apart from the black hole?). Don’t ask they don’t answer that. Spock ends up bring to late and a Romulan surviver ( thanks to some outer space blue collar work) blames Spock for everything. The former Hulk, Eric Bana plays our mad bad guy. And he swears revenge and during his hunt both Spock (now old and wise) runs into the black hole to avoid getting killed. He and the pursuing menace travel back in time to undue and take revenge on the Federation. This action changes the universe we know and loved and makes a new time line starting from the birth of Captian James T Kirk. This set up allows for a whole new series of Star Trek movies that won’t interfere with Gene Roddenberry’s work. Since he is not around, they can refer to his work but not have to follow the books, the shows, the comics, nor video games. And perhaps not even be so geeky.
You will enjoy this movie, it modernizes the Trekkie-verse. Go watch it and have fun. PS. Wynonna Ryder plays Spocks Mom and manages not to steal his ears.

OK so we will be Terminated in 2018

I have been a big fan of Terminator for ages. Ever since James Cameron had his nightmare after being fired from doing Piranha 2 and he got sick with a high fever, dreaming of how the world would end. If you don’t know that story... trust me look it up its wild. This week a hot new trailer has popped up and Batman shows us what happens after the nuclear battle between us and them. Read More...

Transformers Revenge

Where to begin, i didn’t know we were so close to the sequel to this film . Transformers’ history is similar to that of G.I. Joe. Toy-line, Comic book, cartoon, Movie.
Although when i was a kid you would never believe that it could be done. THe first movie was ok, a little blurry for my taste. I guess when everything is seen a human eye level its hard to see everything clearly ( if it were all real). but I digress, this one looks like they went bonkers. Read More...

Star Trek Extreme

Star Trek was also previewed during the Big Game. As you may already know this “episode” is the sequel to the prequel before the first tv episodes and before the first feature film.... whew, sweating just thinking about that. Ok so in this movie, we see the beginnings of Captain James T Kirk before he becomes the beloved or hated William Shatner. Also in this film we have our “Heroes” star Sylar if you watch as Mr Spock in his early old days. Spock as you may know lives longer than humans do. Read More...

New G.I. Joe movie is finally ready

The New long awaited G.I Joe movie based loosely on the Hasbro line of toys is finally coming to theaters. To think i uesed to collect the action figures. The figures first launched in 1964, representing our boys in military garb, and various weapons. After the barbie sized figures slowed in sales, it was relaunched after the star wars outbreak of action figures in the late 70’s early 80’s.
The toys were then turned into an action comic by Marvel and later into a cartoon which later turned into a comic again by another comic company. Read More...

Tron 2 in the wild?

“Tron” story is about a hacker who is literally abducted into the world of a computer and forced to participate in gladiatorial games where his only chance of escape is with the help of a heroic security program.

The first movies visual FX were basic but back in the day it was the best we have seen. You will see one of the main character Jeff Bridges in one of his “make me famous” movies.

This is the Sneak peak at “Tron 2” Good ol’ Jeff is back and the crowd goes wild. This video was sneakily recorded at the Comic Con where Disney gave fans a presentation. One of the best scenes in both videos is the “light cycle” where the bikes travel at high speeds and create a wall barrier made of solid light. Ok it sounds bad but the effect is very cool.

One of the best scenes of the older “Tron” film with the “light cycles”

GI Joe starts showing some Snake Eyes!

The movie will be a modern telling of the "G.I. Joe vs. Cobra" storyline and its compelling characters that Hasbro created 25 years ago. The premise of this fantasy is the story of the G.I. Joe team, led by Duke, and their "fight for freedom wherever there is trouble" against the evil Cobra Commander and his Cobra force.

This storyline was an instant hit with kids in the early 1980s, spawning a highly popular 3-3/4-inch action figure line, comic book collection and animated series. The G.I. Joe team will not be based in Brussels. Instead, they will be based out of the "Pit" as they were throughout the 1980s comic book series. And, in keeping with the G.I. Joe vs. Cobra fantasy, the movie will feature characters and locations from around the world. Duke, the lead character and head of the G.I. Joe team, will embody the values of bravery and heroism that the first generation of G.I. Joe figures established.

STAR WARS continues... New Feature film coming in August.

Our friend George (Lucas) has been working on making the new generation of Star Wars fans happy. He is continuing his world of Star Wars, by releasing yet another Star Wars related feature "the Clone Wars". The feature film and animated series fill the gaps between Episodes II and III, and will be done in a 3d animated version of the short series that appeared on the cartoon network related to the clones or the Star Wars movies.

In one clip, which begins with two Jedi carriers departing from a larger Republic starship. Inside one of them, Anakin briefs his young liege Ahsoka on the upcoming battle, telling his young apprentice to stay close because it isn't practice although she's very cocky and self-assured, snapping back that she'll try not get him killed. The battle scene is quite impressive as we get to see Ahsoka in action against a large armored vehicle that's able to climb up a vertical cliff-face, followed by a scene of Count Dooku relaying his plans to his own dark apprentice Asajj Ventress via the normal Jedi hologram communication, their plans interrupted by the entrance of Ben Kenobi, leading to a short lightsaber fight between them, Ventress disarming Kenobi with her advantage of two lightsabers to his one. The animation looked somewhat primitive compared to what else is out there with the characters not being as detailed as some might like, but the battle sequences are still very exciting and impressive. (comingsoon.net)

In an interview Lucas mentions that the film will not crossover from the experimental cartoon network series but will have an anime feel to it. The TV series is designed to go 5 to 6 years and it has been production for 3 years. One years worth is ready with the second year nearing completion and third year already written. But wait there is more. A live action series is also in the works for television, set for 2010! One thing Mr. Lucas points out is that the series are not episodic, so it should follow a short story feel that Lucas is known for when doing Young Indiana Jones. There is a background world but. we experience pieces of time.
lucasshowest3

One of the most important questions asked by Comingsoon.net was:
"CS: Do you think you'd have other people continue the "Star Wars" saga past "Episode VI" or turn some of the other material into films?
Lucas: But there's no story past "Episode VI", there's just no story. It's a certain story about Anakin Skywalker and once Anakin Skywalker dies, that's kind of the end of the story. There is no story about Luke Skywalker, I mean apart from the books. But there's three worlds: There's my world that I made up, there's the licensing world that's the books, the comics, all that kind of stuff, the games, which is their world, and then there's the fans' world, which is also very rich in imagination, but they don't always mesh. All I'm in charge of is my world. I can't be in charge of those other people's world, because I can't keep up with it. "

It should be exciting to see the wars that were mentioned and briefly shown in the original films, now get the full attention of stories ala "Band of Brothers". Movie releases in mid August and TV show opens in the fall of 2008.
